The Vatican has begun allowing public Masses to be celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica for the first time since March 10th as coronavirus restrictions were eased in the city-state on Monday, May 18, 2020.

There is no holy water or choir, and unused pews for the morning Mass were roped off with tape to keep them sanitized for when the bigger crowds come later in the day.

Communion is offered in the hand and priests must wear gloves during Communion so as not to come in contact with the hands of the faithful, according to the new protocol.

Sign the Petition to Repeal Washington State’s Sex Ed Law

Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg, Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Seattle, provides information on how to sign referendum 90 (R-90) to repeal the new comprehensive sexual health education law known as SB-5395. Bishop Mueggenborg, who assists the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s Committee for Marriage and Family Life, raises concerns about the new law. “This law that will go into effect if we do not repeal it, does not adequately address the complex sexual and moral issues that we experience today and that our children face,” Bishop Mueggenborg explained. “Nor does this law require that teachings on human sexuality be included in the context of marriage.”

Obtaining enough signatures on the referendum will allow a measure to be placed on the fall ballot so that voters can reject the new comprehensive sexual education law. Click on the provided link informedparentsofwashington.com to get information about signing a petition to repeal the law. The deadline to sign the petition is fast approaching–June, 1st, 2020.
